Description

So I got a new mouse recently and finally decided to test it out today. It works fantastic. And, in fact, because my laptop now has a nice mouse I can draw in comfort which I can't do on the main computer. The mouse is not bothered by the small lumps in my sheets that made my old mouse, before it died, jolt across the screen and it doesn't die every few seconds. It took me a while to adjust to how smooth it was but afterwards I had been mulling over this drawing from about 9pm to now 6:30 in the morning.

If you've looked in my gallery before the pose and such of this character probably looks familiar. That's because he's related to Huy's character Anuankhr: They're nonidentical twins and they're probably one of the few characters in the story that actually look like they're related to someone, considering the Egyptian Gods have this tendency to give birth to animals not of their species. Speaking of which, I should note that this story is a TWIST on Egyptian Mythology and therefor isn't 100% accurate. There will be lots of made-up gods and goddesses with probably different personalities then the one they may be written out to have.

Anyways, this is obviously Anubis and he really does guide and protect lost souls. He's a total sweety that loves whales and children, but he's not very good at making relationships with actual living things. Because of this, he is literally married to himself. His female form is Anput and looks very similar to what you see here only female. Whenever he crosses the gates to come to Earth, he automatically switches to the form of a human or a grinning jackal. The grin is pretty much permanent in that form, even if he closes his mouth his lips are stuck in a big smile and he can't show emotion with it. In this form, Anubis has a snake for a tail that literally has a mind of it's own. It is not a very nice snake and so Anubis keeps a muzzle on it to prevent it from eating other living things. Because they share a body their minds often collide unless Anubis goes to Earth and then Slata, the snake, sleeps unwillingly until he returns to the proper plain of existence. If Anubis isn't careful Slata will take over his body and Anubis will become the snake-tail. If that were to happen, Anubis' body would be completely under Slata's control and it's be able to shift his bones to form an appearance of it's liking and control his powers. However much Anubis might want to (even though he wouldn't, he has too much moral), he cannot remove Slata without killing himself--luckily for him, that removes any possibility of Slata taking control and then chopping Anubis off therefor killing him.

Anubis is often blamed for the evils of his brother who is, as far as society is concerned, non-existent.

Oh, also, the symbols on Anubis' shoulder say "Anapa", which is how the Egyptians said his name....... I'm not sure why they call him Anubis if he was called Anapa but whatever. (Might have been "Anapu" that they called him, but I didn't double check when I drew the symbols. . .)
